Walter E. Johnson is the former Director of Compliance Systems and Finance for a clinical laboratory. Performing within 5-year OIG Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA) environment, a few of his responsibilities included providing compliance guidance to operational departments, compliance review of physician education events, co-oversight of focus arrangements, process improvement, and implementing reporting tools.
Previously, Johnson served as Compliance Project Manager for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc. managing a financial compliance program. A few of his responsibilities included managing internal and external audits, policy and process development, online policy management, coordinating regulatory submissions, disaster recovery/business continuity lead, and providing compliance guidance to enterprise-wide program and project implementations. For three years, Johnson managed financial compliance for 3 Kaiser Permanente regions (Mid-Atlantic, Ohio, and Georgia) and served as an Adjunct Professor for Baltimore City Community College.
As an active member of the Health Care Compliance Association and Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, he is an advocate for contributing to the compliance profession by mentoring compliance professionals, sharing experiences, participating in study groups and roundtable discussions.
Certifications include Certification in Healthcare Compliance, Certification in Continuity Management, Certification in Risk & Compliance Management Professional, and Certification in Sarbanes-Oxley.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Bowie State University. Additionally, he earned a Master of Science in Administration with a concentration in International Administration from Central Michigan University and a few doctoral courses in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
Walter and his wife, Latoya, have been married for 11 years and have two children.
