Tell us about your family. 
My wife and I have been happily married for over 10 years. We have two children. 

How do you recharge your batteries? 
I enjoy listening to audiobooks and exercising a few days each week.

What are you reading now? 
I am reading The TenX Rule by Grant Cardone. He provides his perspective on ensuring success or failure. By providing personal and non-personal experiences, he demonstrates that individuals must be accountable for their performance and aware of their perspective that impacts performance.

Is there a business-related book that you recommend? 
Decisive by Chip Heath and Dan Heath is a great business-relatd book. There are many ready-for-use lessons but my favorite is the 10-10-10 Rule. When making a decision, ask yourself how will you feel about the decision options in 10 minutes, 10 months, or 10 years. Sometimes I adjust the rule to 10 minutes, 10 weeks, and 10 months.

What is your favorite music? 
I enjoy music from many genres. I listen to movie soundtracks mostly. My favorites include Limitless, Speed Racer, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

What did you want to be when you grew up? 
I wanted to be a car designer. I was obseessed with the automotive industry. Daily activities included making sketches, attending car shows, and reading industry news. 

Who is your personal hero? 
My father. He was charismatic, intelligent, and inspiring. He was a great person. 

What is your favorite quote or expression? 
My favorite quote that supports the compliance profession is "It takes less time to do a thing right than it does to explain why you did it wrong." by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. 

Do you have any special interest or hobbies? 
I am an automotive enthusiast and I enjoy home renovation projects. When possible, I visit automotive museums and car shows.

CAREER FOCUS:

Why did you choose a career in compliance? 
My first compliance role was new position and introduced in a department meeting. While listening to the description, I became excited because I knew I would make a difference in this role. 

What motivated you to move into current compliance role? 
My first position was compliance coordinator. The position was new and introduced in a department meeting. While listening to the description, I became excited because I knew I would make a difference in this role. 


What is the best thing about our profession?
The compliance network is amazing. We have individuals committed to making a difference. We share our best practices so each of us may be successful in our roles. Collectively, we are developing industry standards and establishing consistency. 

What is the most challenging thing about our profession?
Regulations. There are numerous regulations to understand and promote awareness throughout the organization. Many are multi-industry regulations and others are not.  

What is the biggest challenge in the next year?
As the regulatory landscape continues to increase its complexity with new and updated regulations, the ability to respond with limited resources and influence proactive change will remain a challenge to the compliance profession.
